Calendula Ointment

Discussion

Is calendula ointment safe for my dog?

I have a golden lab that chews her tail a lot. I don't like putting antibiotics on her because she will lick them off, and I don't even know what that could be doing to her intestines! Is calendula ointment a safe alternative?

RE: Is calendula ointment safe for my dog?

I would always check with a veterinarian first. Your pup might have a serious medical condition that would be made worse if ignored. However, I have used calendula in my herbal first aid kit for years for cuts, scrapes, burns, you name it! Your vet may likely tell you that it is okay to use this botanical cream for your holistic animal health, but just check first to make sure it's not mange or mites or something serious.
