Placebo Effect or not, who cares?
I just read an article by a guy who said most, if not all, alternative medicine works on the placebo effect. Not only is this not true, but who cares if it is true? He included alternative medicine to be, "acupuncture, vitamin treatments, herbal treatments, chiropractics, prayer, homeopathy, etc." He also said that alternative medicine is medicine that has no scientific basis. I think before a guy goes off ranting about what he doesn't like, he should check his facts! Lots of alternative medicine has been around for centuries and has numerous conclusive research evidence to support its uses. Not only that, but the placebo effect is REAL. If alternative medicine brings forth the powers of placebo and that's why someone gets better, than who is to say that alternative medicine isn't as real as any other form of medicine?

RE: Placebo Effect or not, who cares?
I agree, Sara. I believe I read the same article. When it comes to healing, I believe there are many forces at work that we may never see or understand completely. If you receive treatment for something, there are almost infinite variables that come into play as far as how well you will respond to that treatment. The more scientists study alternative medicine, the stronger the basis for use becomes. This goes for placebo effect as well.
