Arthritis

Arthritis: Five natural strategies

Arthritis strategy #1: Food

Garlic, with its anti-inflammatory properties, is healthy for people with arthritis. Another arthritis remedy is the banana fast, eating up to ten bananas daily—and nothing else—for 3-4 days. Some alternative medicine practitioners recommend the same regimen using apples for arthritis. Citrus fruits may help dissolve the deposits left by arthritis; use only organic, freshly squeezed juice, preferably lime. Mung beans are thought to be particularly helpful in treating arthritis.

Arthritis strategy #2: Raw juices

Raw potato juice therapy is a biological treatment for both types of arthritis that has its origins in folk medicine. Slice an unpeeled potato and soak the slices in water overnight; drink the juice on an empty stomach the next morning to ease arthritis symptoms. A juicer can also be used to create potato juice or green juices from leafy vegetables, which may improve arthritis with their alkalinity. Fresh pineapple juice is thought to be useful for arthritis.

 Arthritis strategy #3: Seeds

Soak sesame seeds overnight; in the morning, eat seeds and drink the water as an arthritis treatment. Alfalfa seeds may contain substances useful in treating arthritis. Make a tea of the seeds and drink several cups per day to ease arthritis symptoms.

Arthritis strategy #4: Minerals

Wearing copper close to the body is a folk remedy for arthritis. Calcium supplements may ease arthritis pain, especially calcium lactate. Recommended dosage for arthritis is 400 mg three times daily.

Arthritis strategy #5: Oils

Castor oil in orange juice is a natural arthritis treatment, although the oil is very laxative. Coconut oil can be taken instead for arthritis, or rubbed directly on joints affected by arthritis. Mustard oil or camphorated oil can be applied to arthritis sore spots.
