Acupuncture is one of the modalities of Oriental Medicine, an ancient, holistic system of healing. Acupuncture is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, along with acupressure, Tuina, Shiatsu, and Chi-kung (also referred to as Qi gong). Traditional Chinese medical theory is that Qi, the vital life energy, flows through specific bodily pathways, called meridians. Various therapies are used to help stimulate and balance the flow of vital energy along the meridians.
